At 3:00 p.m. on Day 5 of Snowboy Productions’ Holy Bowly, the energy at Sunshine Village, AB, shifts. We strap into our boards, and the final chatter from the crowd fades. Nearly a hundred of us gather at the top of the course. As is tradition, Krush Kulesza, Head Honcho of Snowboy Productions, stands before the crowd for the remembrance party lap, a sacred pause to cap off a week of creative chaos.

“We always look back after it happens,” Krush explains, dedicating this year’s lap to Sean Marko and Jeff Keenan—two tragic losses from our community in the past year. “This is a chance for us all to appreciate the real time before it runs out.”
Krush asks riders to pass over “Kwon's Boob”—a deceptively simple-looking transition built atop a patch of trees—and reflect on lost friends, family, and members of the community. Then comes his final instruction: “For Noah Salasnek—tweak extra hard.”
