With political turmoil and a very hostile picture painted by American media, Iran is often overlooked as a place to do basically anything recreational. A little known fact is that 14,000 foot peaks dot the geography of the country, and a counter culture of snowboarding-perpetuated by a primarily under-35 aged population-is very prevalent. Setting off to gain a better understanding of the culture and landscape there are Borders Without Boarders members Hannah Teter, Burton rider Gabi Viteri and two male riders that are still being decided on. Raising money for the trip and a subsequent film (check out their fundraising site and more information here ) is the groups first goal, which they hope to achieve by September 16.
