Katie Kennedy is Not a Prodigy

Katie Kennedy is proof that you can have it all and be it all.

A figurative chimera, she is equal parts type-A operator and type-B tornado: methodical and loyal to her routines, agent of chaos, and curator of good times. Katie is the kind of person who time-blocks her calendar in the morning and sends backcountry jumps in the afternoon. Rider, marketing guru, editor, producer, industry insider, goofball—her personal Venn diagram continues to expand.

But the thing that holds all this together is deceptively simple: she doesn’t take herself too seriously. This is Katie’s secret sauce, what makes her so sick to ride with, rapid in her progression, and genuinely fun to watch. When Katie eats it—and she will eat it, because that’s how she likes to learn—she’s laughing before she hits the ground. When you’re riding with someone who can do that, your own fears start to feel lighter, making it okay to try and okay to fail. This lightness can read as casual, even flippant. It isn’t. Beneath the playful energy is someone who deeply cares about snowboarding, about her community, about doing good work on and off the board.
