Barely Time to Wait
“We want to shoot a segment with you and your kids for the TGR 30th-anniversary film,” my brother Todd said over the phone. “Go back to your classic Tahoe lines and have your kids ride them.”
“Sounds cool,” I said, not really thinking through what serious shooting with my kids would mean.
The last few years, my kids—Mia (age 20) and Cass (age 17)—have been my main riding partners. When they were little, I was head-down grinding on the Deeper, Further, Higher trilogy and launching Jones Snowboards. This work put me in the mountains and away from home for long stretches. Once they got older and more dialed on their boards, it became much harder to leave. There’s nothing better than snowboarding with your kids. On the mountain, the parent line blurs as we become riding partners, hunting for the best snow and helping each other find lines, airs and landings.
