Butterfly in a Blizzard
Kimmy Fasani is no stranger to navigating tumultuous spaces that strike without warning. Her deeply personal feature length film, Butterfly in a Blizzard, now on Apple TV and most streaming platforms, chronicles her journey that spans motherhood, breast cancer and a reckoning with past trauma. What started as a story about balancing a professional snowboarding career with parenthood alongside her husband Chris Benchetler—himself a pro skier and artist—evolved into a resilient story about matrescence, healing and reemerging with strength and grace.
“Sharing this movie with a live audience is still a little anxiety-inducing,” Kimmy admits, before a Salt Lake City, UT, screening. “It’s so personal and vulnerable that there are sections of the film that kind of still make my skin crawl.”
